It was truly an honor to receive the highest academic award bestowed by the Universidad Regional Autónoma de los Andes of the Republic of Ecuador. The SCIENTIA SCIENTIARUM LIBERTATE AWARD has been bestowed less than five times since the establishment of the University and it is reserved for excellence in research and teaching. I received the award from the hands of Dr. Corona Gomez, co-founder of the University and current Vice-Rector. The ceremony took place in the Ambato Campus.
